Durban completes R232.6m flood-resilience works across three sites.
eThekwini has completed three South Durban Basin stormwater projects valued at R232.6 million: a 1.96 km upgraded canal in Prospecton, a sea outfall at Isipingo and an attenuation sports field in Umlazi. The canal improvements include a 1.3 km pedestrian walkway and taxi lay-bys, while the sports field doubles as stormwater storage. Together, the schemes illustrate infrastructure that protects industry, transport and public space.
